Who Are We Looking For?

Great for people who want to volunteer but may not have the time, interest, physical ability, or desire to become a firefighter. Retirees, professionals, parents, students, tradespeople, photographers, organizers, cooks—there are plenty of skills that translate to the firehouse:

Everyday skills may be exactly what we need. From maintenance, construction, and countless other talents—there are plenty of ways to put what you already know to work supporting our mission.

What You’ll Do

Our Operational Support members work behind the scenes to keep Franklin Fire Company ready, organized, and serving our community.

Station & Operational Support

    • Assist with station upkeep and organization
    • Help maintain equipment, supplies, and operational areas
    • Assist crews with non-emergency tasks around the station
    • Help prepare equipment and resources for department activities
    • Use personal skills or trades to support department needs

Fundraising & Events

  • Help with weekly Bingo and special fundraising events
  • Assist with event setup, operations, and cleanup
  • Help with food service, ticket sales, raffles, and other event needs
  • Support major events like Bash in the Valley
  • Represent Franklin Fire Company at community events

Community Engagement

  • Public education events
  • Fire prevention programs
  • Community outreach & more!

-Operational Firefighter, Driver, or Fire Police

-Administrative Officer (elected positions)

Minimum Requirements:

At least 18 years of age

Valid driver’s license

Complete the department’s application and onboarding process (Background checks and more)

Complete Interview Process

We understand that work, family, and school come first. Our goal is to help every member contribute in a way that fits their schedule while remaining an active part of the team.

TO REMAIN ACTIVE STATUS:

-WORK 1 BINGO PER MONTH 

-ATTEND 6 COMPANY MEETINGS PER YEAR

Not at all. Operational Support is designed for individuals who want to contribute without becoming an emergency responder. We’ll help you learn what you need to know and find areas where you feel comfortable getting involved.

No. Operational Support members are not expected to perform firefighting, rescue, or other emergency-response duties. Your role focuses on supporting the people, events, programs, and behind-the-scenes operations that keep our company moving.

We understand that work, family, and life come first. There are plenty of opportunities to help throughout the year, allowing you to get involved in ways that work with your availability. All we ask is for you to work 1 bingo per month, hangout when you can, and attend departmental meetings.

Absolutely. Some of our biggest needs simply require dependable people willing to show up and lend a hand. You don’t need a specialized background—we can find something for you to do.

Yes. Operational Support isn’t simply a volunteer list. You’re joining the company and becoming part of the team that helps us continue serving our community.

Absolutely. If you decide you’d like to become more involved in the operational side of the fire service, we can help you learn about the requirements, training, and next steps for transitioning into another membership role.

Whether you’re a college student, beginning a career in the fire service, relocating to the area, or simply looking for a unique volunteer opportunity, our Live-In Program offers an excellent way to develop your skills while becoming part of our firehouse family.
