The Franklin Fire Company has a long and proud history of serving and protecting the citizens of Chambersburg and the surrounding areas. To continue our mission, we are continually working to improve our service and effectiveness. At Station 4, we extend an open invitation to those with a passion for making a difference. The Franklin Fire Company, Station 4 of Chambersburg, is dedicated to protecting life and property of the citizens and communities we serve. By providing fire safety, safety education, and fire prevention programs, as well as providing the mitigation of fire, medical, and related emergencies.
The goal of the Franklin Fire Company is to minimize loss of life and property for the communities in our coverage areas, which includes parts of Hamilton Township; Greene Township; Guilford Township; Letterkenny Townships; and the Borough of Chambersburg;, as well as assisting mutual aid area, from fires, natural disasters, life-threatening situations and to assist other emergency agencies.
The objective of the Franklin Fire Company is to perform these services in an efficient manner by maintaining effective fire prevention, emergency response, fire suppression and training.

Senior Member Application
Click the link to access our online Senior Membership Application for those that are 18 years of age and older. Form must be completed in full and a $10 non-refundable application fee is collected as well.
Junior Member Application
Click the link to access our online Junior Membership Application for those ages 14-17. Form must be completed in full along with parental signatures and applicable documents.Â
Senior Operational Members
We are always accepting new Operational Firefighters, including Interior and Exterior roles. Interior firefighters operate in hazardous environments to mitigate emergencies, while exterior firefighters support operations outside the hazard area by assisting with hose lines, ladders, and equipment.
The Franklin Fire Company Live-In Program is available to both male and female firefighters and includes private bunkrooms, showers, lockers, Wi-Fi, computer access, cable, a full kitchen, lounge, and gym.
Live-In Requirements:
• Active Franklin Fire Company member
• Stay at the firehouse 4 nights per week
• Assist with weekly cleaning
• Respond to calls while on station
• Age 18+
Senior Operational Support Staff
Operational Support Staff assist with fundraising, administrative work, and community events such as bingos, gun drawings, and school fire-prevention activities. While they do not respond to emergencies, their support is essential—fundraising helps keep our fire trucks on the road.
Junior Members (Ages 14-17)
Junior Members (ages 14–17) may join as Operational Junior Members or Operational Support Staff Junior Members.
Operational Junior Members respond to emergency scenes after completing required training and assist with essential tasks once the area has been deemed safe.
Operational Support Staff Junior Members assist with fundraising, administrative duties, and community events, supporting the department without responding to emergencies.
Junior members gain valuable experience, learn about the fire service, and play an important role as the future of our organization.
Senior Fire Police
Fire Police support emergency operations by directing traffic, securing scenes, and ensuring the safety of firefighters and the public during incidents, training, and community events. They play a vital role in maintaining order and safety while emergency crews do their work.

🔥 Truck & Engine for a House Fire🔥
At 9:30 last night, Truck 42 w/6(1st due) & E43 w/3(WFD) responded to E Grandview Ave in Mercersburg for a Garage Fire. Co.9(Mercersburg) arrived confirming a working fire and they believed that the fire had already extended into the house.
42 arrived and sent crews inside to open up and a crew to the roof to open a ventilation hole. E43 arrived, securing a secondary hydrant and sent crews inside to assist on a handline.
Crews operated for almost 2 hours before returning to W King St.
