**Major Hazmat Incident**

The morning of 7/11/2024 at approximately 9:30am Franklin County 911 dispatched units to the 800blk of Development Avenue for a hazmat call. Squad 41, Truck 42, and Deputy Chief 47 responded. Initial reports were of a bulk tank of acid that spilled and released a red vapor cloud. First arriving units found a orange/red vapor cloud coming from the building. Evacuation efforts were started immediately to account for all occupants and treat initial patients. Command 44 quickly recognized the severity and size of the incident and called for additional resources and started a full hazmat response. Several patients were transported to the hospital for further evaluation. Crews were able to mitigate the incident early on and continued to monitor the facility and surrounding areas for several hours. A full press release will be posted tomorrow.
We would also like to thank Buchanan Valley FD for transferring to STA4 during this incident.
